Alhaurín de la Torre
Alhaurín de la Torre is a town symbolised by it’s white washed houses and in an area that is quickly becoming popular among tourists and visitors. As a result , the sedate pace, quiet streets and sense of isolation have been replaced by a wider variety of inhabitants due to the easy access to Málaga and the coast. This is the perfect combination for many but if your preference is for traditional Andalucía, you are a few decades too late.

Almayate is a small coastal town in Andalucia´s Axarquia region, situated 25 kilometres from Malaga (between Benajarafe and Torre del Mar). Comparatively, this is a town of 2 main areas – Almayate Bajo and Almayate Alto. On one hand, Almayate Bajo is a small village on the beach, fringed by sand, sea and sugar cane. Whereas Almayate Alto is the area where where the houses are built close together and most of the town’s population lives.

Benajarafe is a charming coastal resort, in the east of the Costa del Sol, which boasts a great location, situated beside a long stretch of beach where you will find clear waters and all the water sports your heart desires. That being said, it’s mainly a summer resort, with the population increasing during the summer months and quietening off during the winter months. Furthermore, Inland from the town is the beautiful mountainous Axarquia region, which is ideal for hikers, nature lovers and anybody who appreciates natural beauty.

Estepona is one of the few coastal towns in Spain that has succeeded in maintaining its ‘pueblo’ (old Spanish town) charm and character regardless of all the tourist hotels, restaurants, shops and leisure activities. With that being said, the old town of Estepona is colourful and vibrant (but in traditional form) with numerous street cafes and tapas bars still serving traditional Spanish delicacies. Furthermore, if you venture into the side streets and you’ll find bars and small shops where you’d least expect them to be.

Humilladero is a typically laid-back Spanish village with an assortment of small shops including a bakers, school, medical center and supermarkets. Furthermore, this is an area that prides itself on Spanish traditions so expect to celebrate throughout the year during one of the many Spanish Fiestas.

You probably wont find a town that is more ‘typically Spanish’ than Iznate and as you walk the steep narrow streets aligned with white washed houses, you’ll pass one of the many fountains along the way. Consequently, this areas largest export is the Muscat grape followed by avocados, almonds and olives and to this day very much remains a working town.

Las Lagunas de Mijas
Las Lagunas de Mijas is part of Mijas Costa but it has a unique character of its own. The southern part of this area has a cosmopolitan feel with shops bars and restaurants whereas the northern part is rugged and home to Mijas Golf. Furthermore, the transport routes from the south provide good links to both Málaga and Marbella and you’re well placed to discover other resorts on the Costa del Sol.

If you’re looking at ‘home from home’ destination, Mijas may just be your best option. Situated in the mountainside looking towards the sea, this village is about as culturally diverse as you’ll find in Spain. Antequera
Dubbed the ‘Jewel of Andalusia’ Antequera has a level of history that rivals some of the major cities throughout Spain. As well as it’s 33 churches, museums and art exhibitions, it has over 100 restaurants and bars scattered over it’s pretty plazas and atmospheric streets. This town was historically dubbed ‘the crossroads of Andalusia’, being the more or less central point to Seville, Cordoba, Granada and Málaga. It lies 50 kilometres north of Málaga and is commonly chosen as a holiday base purely because of this proximity to Malaga airport.

What to look for when searching Costa del Sol Campsites and Residential Mobile Home Parks:
Annual site fee costs
Site fees on the Costa del Sol range from 4,000€ to 6,000€ annually. Expect to pay slightly more fees for the holiday parks due to the facilities on offer but you’ll find that these are generally paid monthly with discounts given for paying in advance for the year. On the other hand, Residential Mobile Home Parks generally require an annual payment in advance but fees are lower as standard.
Annual running costs
Consider the following as annual running costs on a campsite on the Costa del Sol: Site fees, gas (bottle), electricity (metered) & Caravan insurance. Water is generally included with the site fees on a campsite in Spain whereas water is generally charged by meter on a residential mobile home park.
Facilities
Facilities differ by campsite and residential mobile home park on the Costa del Sol so decide what facilities are most important to you. Most campsites will have at least 1 swimming pool and a restaurant / bar area. But, bare in mind that having more facilities generally increases the annual site fee costs. That said, If you’re willing to increase the annual site fee costs then expect to gain additional outdoor pools, indoor swimming pool, gym, children’s play area and even a dog walking or exercise area.
On the other hand, residential mobile home parks are more geared towards social facilities so expect to find a swimming pool, restaurant/bar and bowls.
Distance to the nearest town or resort
This should be the most important factor when searching for your a Campsite or Residential Mobile Home Park on the Costa del Sol. You’ll have an area in mind where you want to be so focus your search primarily in that location.
